They’re back! Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the theatre

Monday 25 September 2006

The West End Whingers Andrew and Phil are pleased to announce their return from the rainforests and jungles of Costa Rica.

They’re raring to trek into the jungle that is the West End to tell you what’s hot and what’s not.

We were hoping to review a production at San Jose’s famous Teatro Nacional (that’s yer actual Spanish) but time didn’t allow.

They were however treated to a delightful dance display in the community hall of the remote village of La Gamba.

Four girls and one boy (it was meant to be four boys but three didn’t show up… how very West End. No understudies or swings. A bit shoddy, really) danced their little socks off in a very lively and colourful display. Short and sweet (just how we like it). The only down side was the obligatory audience participation and the West End Whingers were forced onto the dance floor. Perhaps they will be kinder to professional dancers in future. We’ll see.

Most worryingly, there is a video of this somewhere in Costa Rica. If it should ever get out…

While we were away, our prediction that Connie Fisher would win “How do you solve a problem like Maria?” came true. And the ensuing row about fixes and the “replacement” Maria proved that WEW are, as ever, ahead of the game.
